Atiku, Obi, Mark, other ADC leaders gather in Abuja for Abdullahi’s The Loyalist Launch
Bolaji Abdullahi unveiled his book, The Loyalist: A Memoir of Service and Sacrifice, in Abuja on Tuesday.
Bolaji Abdullahi, national publicity secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), on Tuesday launched his book, The Loyalist: A Memoir of Service and Sacrifice, at an event attended by prominent political figures in the nation’s capital.
The book launch drew notable opposition leaders, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President and ADC National Chairman David Mark, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, former Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi, and 2025 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Other dignitaries in attendance included Rauf Aregbesola, former Minister of Interior; Liyel Imoke, former Cross River Governor; Aminu Tambuwal, former Sokoto Governor; Abdulfatah Ahmed, former Kwara Governor; and Emeka Ihedioha, former Imo Governor.
Atiku, the special guest of honour, praised Abdullahi for producing “a work that dares to question loyalties, illuminate conscience, and broaden our public imagination.”
Reflecting on his nearly four decades in politics, Atiku said loyalty in public service often comes at a personal cost. “Many of us here, particularly Malam Bolaji Abdullahi and myself, have suffered because of loyalty. I have personally faced exile as a result of loyalty. I have survived assassination attempts as a result of loyalty,” he disclosed.
Atiku urged political actors to view loyalty as a means of strengthening shared goals rather than restricting inclusion. “It requires accountability, transparency, and the ability to listen and learn, especially from those with whom we disagree. True loyalty embraces diversity of thought and protects the dignity of every citizen,” he added.
He concluded by reminding leaders and aspiring public servants that lessons on loyalty and integrity are central to effective leadership and service.
