BREAKING: Former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun loses husband
Former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has been thrown into mourning following the death of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun.
Anthony Adeosun, popularly known as Niyi Adeosun, died on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos State, according to a statement issued by the family.
Announcing his passing, the family described the late businessman as a devoted Christian, accomplished entrepreneur and loving family man whose life was defined by integrity, generosity and unwavering faith.
“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father and brother, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos,” the statement read.
The family disclosed that he passed away at the age of 62.
According to the statement, Niyi Adeosun was widely admired for his dedication to God, commitment to his family and service to his community throughout his lifetime.
“He was a distinguished businessman and a devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew him.
“He lived a life defined by hard work, service to God and an unwavering commitment to his family and community,” the family added.
The family said details of his funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be announced in due course.
The late Anthony Adeosun is survived by his wife, former Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun, their children and other members of the family.
