BREAKING: Tinubu’s Govt announces 30-Day petrol discount at filling stations for Nigerians
The Federal Government has announced a 30-day discount on petrol sold at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) filling stations across the country.
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, disclosed this on Thursday at a press conference in Abuja.
Oyedele said the discount would take effect as part of measures to provide relief to Nigerians, with public transport operators given priority under the arrangement.
“There’ll be a discount on NNPC petrol for the next 30 days, with priority for public transporters,” the minister said.
He also disclosed that the Federal Government had negotiated the landing cost of petrol, which would be reviewed on a monthly basis.
According to Oyedele, the negotiated landing cost is expected to form part of the mechanism supporting the temporary reduction in petrol prices.
“There’ll be a negotiated landing cost which will be reviewed monthly,” he added.
The minister did not immediately disclose the exact amount of the discount or the new pump prices that motorists and other consumers would pay at NNPC filling stations.
Further details on the implementation of the 30-day petrol discount are expected from the Federal Government. The Federal Government has announced a 30-day discount on petrol sold at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) filling stations across the country.
