Don’t be ashamed, steal my idea and crash petrol price to reduce hardship for Nigerians — Atiku to Tinubu

Former Vice President and ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has challenged President Bola Tinubu to reconsider the removal of petrol subsidy and take steps to reduce the hardship being experienced by Nigerians.

Atiku made the call during his World Press Conference, where he criticised the impact of subsidy removal on the cost of living and urged the Tinubu administration to prioritise the welfare of Nigerians.

Addressing the President, Atiku said Tinubu should not hesitate to adopt his proposed solution, even if it means taking an idea previously advocated by him.

“Don’t be ashamed, steal my idea and restore subsidy to reduce hardship for Nigerians,” Atiku said.

The former Vice President argued that Nigerians are bearing the consequences of the government’s economic policies, particularly the increase in the cost of petrol and its effect on transportation, food prices and businesses.

Atiku has repeatedly called for measures to reduce the burden of high fuel prices, while the Tinubu administration has defended the removal of subsidy as necessary to address Nigeria’s fiscal and economic challenges.

His latest remarks come as the opposition intensifies its criticism of the government’s economic policies ahead of the 2027 general elections.
