D’Tigress captain Sarah Ogoke announces retirement from national team

Nigeria’s D’Tigress captain, Sarah Ogoke, has officially announced her retirement from the national team.

Ogoke made the announcement on Monday in Lyon, France, in the presence of her teammates, drawing the curtain on her international basketball career.

The 35-year-old first represented Nigeria in 2017 and went on to become a key figure in the team’s success over the years.

Ogoke won the FIBA Women’s Afrobasket title five times with the D’Tigress.

The shooting guard is leaving the international scene as an accomplished medical doctor, a mother and wife.

She will make her final appearance for D’Tigress against Germany at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World cup Qualifying Tournament on Tuesday (today).
