Federal Polytechnic Bali announces vacancy for Rector, invites qualified candidates to apply

Federal Polytechnic Bali, Taraba State, has commenced the recruitment process for the position of Rector, with applications invited from suitably qualified candidates.

The office will become vacant on 6 January 2027, and the successful applicant will serve a single five-year term in accordance with the Federal Polytechnics Act, Cap.

F17, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, as amended by the Federal Polytechnics (Amendment) Act, 2019.

The Rector serves as the Chief Academic, Administrative and Accounting Officer of the institution and is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the Polytechnic.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Serve as the Chief Academic, Administrative and Accounting Officer of the Polytechnic.
• Oversee the day-to-day administration of the institution.
• Exercise general authority over staff and students, subject to the Governing Council.
• Ensure discipline, academic excellence and effective administration.
• Provide strategic leadership in teaching, research, technical and vocational education, and community service.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

Academic Qualifications

Candidates must:

• Possess a PhD from a recognised university in a discipline offered in the Polytechnic sector, or possess qualifications recognised under the Scheme of Service for appointment as a Chief Lecturer.
• Hold relevant qualifications obtained from recognised universities, polytechnics or other approved institutions.

Experience

Applicants must:

• Have at least 17 years of post-qualification teaching experience in tertiary institutions.
• Possess a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a Polytechnic or similar Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution.
• Be a Chief Lecturer with not less than five years on the rank.

Age Requirement

Applicants must not be older than 59 years as of 6 January 2027.

Professional Membership

Candidates must be:

• Registered members of a relevant professional body recognised by the Federal Government.
• Able to provide evidence of such membership.

Academic Publications

Applicants must present evidence of:

• Scholarly publications in reputable journals.
• Participation in conferences, seminars and workshops.
• A strong teaching and research profile.

Leadership Qualities

Candidates should demonstrate:

• Proven academic and administrative leadership.
• High integrity, sound managerial ability and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Physical and mental fitness for the position.

Medical Fitness

Applicants must provide evidence of physical and mental fitness issued by a Government Hospital.

Vision Statement

Each applicant must submit a Vision Statement of not more than 20 pages, outlining their plans and strategies for the development of Federal Polytechnic Bali during the tenure of office.

The successful candidate will enjoy the salary and conditions of service approved by the Federal Government for Rectors of Federal Polytechnics.
