‘I’m Not Very Well Myself’ — Pete Edochie speaks on health challenges
Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has opened up about his current health challenges, revealing that he is experiencing difficulty walking and recurring swelling in different parts of his body.
The respected actor disclosed this during a visit to Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Armah in Accra, where he went to offer his support to the ailing actor.
Speaking about his own condition, Edochie said he is currently unable to walk properly and has experienced swelling that affects different parts of his body at different times.
He explained that his hand was swollen during the visit, while the condition sometimes affects his leg before eventually subsiding.
Despite his health challenges, the veteran actor expressed optimism about his recovery, saying he remains hopeful that his condition will improve.
Edochie also spoke about his concern over becoming a burden to those around him, reflecting on the difficulties associated with his current physical condition.
He said:
«“Sitting down here, I’m not very well myself. I’m not walking, that is a problem for me now, but I still have hope that I will recover myself.»
«“Sometimes I get up and parts of my body are swollen. After some time it goes down again. Like my hand is swollen now, later my leg.»
«“Just take me. Don’t let me bother the people who are around me. No. Just take me.”»
The actor’s disclosure has drawn attention to his current condition, although he did not provide further details about the cause of the health challenges or any medical diagnosis.
Edochie, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated veteran actors, has enjoyed a career spanning several decades and remains a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry.
