JUST-IN: ‘It’s Mere Rumour’ — APC denies withdrawal of 2027 Presidential Campaign list

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports that it has withdrawn the list of its 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, describing the reports as mere rumours.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, made the clarification on Tuesday while reacting to reports that the ruling party had ordered the withdrawal of the campaign council list released amid preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking with TheCable, Morka said there was no basis for the reports, stressing that the party would formally announce any changes if adjustments were made to the council.

“It’s rumour. If there is any change to the list, it will be formally announced,” Morka said.

The clarification comes days after the APC released the composition of its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election, with President Bola Tinubu seeking a second term in office.

The list has generated reactions within the party, particularly over the inclusion and exclusion of several prominent party members and political stakeholders.

The concerns subsequently fuelled speculation that the party could review the composition of the campaign structure to accommodate more stakeholders and address perceived imbalances.

However, Morka’s statement indicates that the APC has not officially withdrawn the list.

He maintained that should the party decide to alter the composition of the council, such changes would be formally communicated through the appropriate party channels.
