Nollywood Actress Tope Osoba laid to rest in Ogun
Nollywood actress Tope Osoba has been buried in Ogun State after a funeral service was held in her honour on Thursday.
The actress’ death was announced on August 5, 2026, after she reportedly battled breast cancer and underwent surgery in November 2024.
Following her death, her family initially fixed August 13 for her burial. The funeral plans also included a candlelight procession and an artiste tribute night held on August 11 to celebrate her life and contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry.
However, the burial did not take place on the earlier scheduled date. The family later postponed the ceremony, explaining that more time was needed to put necessary arrangements in place and settle some outstanding matters.
The burial was eventually held on Thursday, where family members, friends, colleagues and other sympathisers gathered to pay their final respects to the late actress.
On Thursday, Osoba’s remains were taken from Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu to Akesan Club, Iperu Remo, for the burial service.
The interment followed at Iperu Remo Cemetery, with colleagues, friends and family members dressed in white paying their last respects.
Prominent figures at the funeral included fellow actors Foluke Daramola, Kunle Afod, Joke Jigan and Basira Badia.

Following the announcement of Osoba’s death, reports circulated online claiming that she died from emotional distress rather than cancer. More allegations surfaced accusing Itunu Onadeko, her fiancé, and his family of subjecting the actress to abuse during her illness.
The Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), where Onadeko serves as a shepherd, recently announced that it has launched an internal investigation into the actress’ death.
Osoba began her career as a dancer before transitioning to acting in the early 2000s. Her notable films include ‘Gucci Girls’ (2012), ‘Accident’ (2013), and ‘Ifedolapo’ (2015).
