Plateau Gov swears in six new High Court Judges
Governor Caleb Mutfwang has sworn in six newly appointed judges of the Plateau State High Court during a ceremony held on Friday in Jos.
At the event, the governor urged the new judges to uphold the highest standards of integrity in their duties.
He emphasized that their appointments were made following constitutional procedures and were properly approved by the National Judicial Council (NJC).
Governor Mutfwang also highlighted the crucial role of the judiciary in society, describing it as the “last hope of the common man.”
He stressed that the credibility of the justice system depends largely on the integrity and performance of judges, which in turn affects public trust.
He said the ceremony represented a major step toward strengthening the rule of law, justice and democratic governance in Plateau State.
According to the governor, the elevation of the judges was a recognition of their years of dedication, competence and proven integrity at both the Bar and the Bench.
He charged them to dispense justice without fear or favour, guided solely by the Constitution and their conscience, noting that their decisions would have lasting impact on lives and democratic institutions.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to judicial independence and impartiality, pledging to improve infrastructure, welfare and reforms within available resources to ensure efficient and timely delivery of justice.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the newly sworn-in judges are Maikai Andrawus, Kparbong Nanman, Nkwap Ngummai, Mantu Ishaku, Bature Musa and Mallan Mangai.
