‘Science Does Not Lie’ — Adeleke reacts to renewed Davido DNA saga

Adeleke said the social media accounts pushing the paternity claims were allegedly created and controlled by Olunloyo.

Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, father of Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has publicly addressed the resurfaced DNA controversy involving a young girl identified as Anu, accusing controversial journalist Kemi Olunloyo of impersonation, misinformation and illegal use of social media accounts.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos on Wednesday, the billionaire businessman said the renewed online campaign pushing claims of paternity did not originate from the child or her mother, but was allegedly orchestrated by Olunloyo through fake social media accounts created in their names.

Dr. Adeleke alleged that Olunloyo set up and controlled the accounts, using them to stir controversy whenever she chose.

“What you see on social media is not written by the girl or her mother. It is Kemi Olunloyo. What she is doing is illegal. She is impersonating a minor. She created accounts in the child’s name and the mother’s name and uses them to cause trouble,” he said.

According to him, the child’s family eventually severed ties with Olunloyo after realising she was allegedly exploiting the situation for financial gain.

“From what the family told me and what the girl herself said, she was using the child and her family to make money. That is why they stopped communicating with her. She controls those accounts and it is not legal,” he added.

Dr. Adeleke also dismissed claims by Olunloyo that she had a close relationship with Davido’s late mother or played any role during the singer’s birth.

“She said she was my late wife’s best friend. How can someone be my wife’s best friend and I never met her? I know my late wife’s closest friends. I have never met Kemi Olunloyo in my life,” he said.

Providing background to Davido’s birth, Dr. Adeleke recounted a medical emergency that required his wife to be flown from London to the United States before delivery.

“When the plane landed in America on November 21, 1992, she was taken straight from the airport to the hospital. That was the day David was born. They had to flush her blood because she was given the wrong blood. The doctor said we were lucky. If I had not insisted she travel, both mother and child could have died,” he said.

He questioned how Olunloyo could claim she drove his wife to the hospital under those circumstances.

“How can someone say she drove my wife to the hospital to have David? That is why I called this press conference. I prefer to live quietly, but enough is enough,” he added.

On the DNA controversy, Dr. Adeleke maintained that multiple paternity tests had already confirmed that Davido is not the biological father of the child, describing continued public pressure on the singer as unfair.

“People say God will punish David for abandoning a child. What do you expect him to do — accept a child that is not his?” he asked.

Despite the outcome of the tests, he said the family had continued to support the child out of compassion.

“I pay her school fees. I still send her ₦50,000 every month for upkeep, even though she is not my grandchild. If she were, I would have spoiled her like the others,” he said.

Dr. Adeleke further revealed that he offered educational opportunities to both the child and her mother at Adeleke University in Ede, Osun State.

“I offered that Anu attends Adeleke University High School as a boarding student, while her mother returns to Adeleke University to complete her degree, so they can both be in Ede,” he disclosed.

He warned that the family was now considering legal action over what he described as impersonation, falsehoods and sustained misinformation.

“With the way she is going about this, lying and using accounts that do not belong to her — impersonating a child and her mother — we are considering suing her,” he said.

Dr. Adeleke stressed that online petitions and social media campaigns could not override scientific evidence.

“Paternity tests have been done several times and they all showed David is not the father. Science does not lie,” he stated.

The renewed controversy follows Davido’s recent response to fresh calls for another DNA test, with the singer reiterating that previous tests had consistently returned negative results.

Dr. Adeleke concluded that if Davido had been confirmed as the biological father, the family would have accepted the child without hesitation.

He said the family’s priority remains protecting its name, safeguarding the welfare of the child and ending what it describes as impersonation, exploitation and deliberate misinformation.
