Senate asks Tinubu to sack CAC Registrar Magaji
The Senate has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, from office over alleged failure to account for the agency’s finances.
The resolution was passed on Thursday by the Senate Committee on Finance in Abuja, following what lawmakers described as repeated refusal by the CAC chief to honour invitations to appear before the committee.
Chairman of the committee, Sani Musa, accused Magaji of failing to cooperate with the Senate’s oversight functions, particularly on issues relating to revenue reconciliation.
“He refused on so many occasions to honour our invitation to appear before this committee.
“We have issues with the reconciliation of the revenue of CAC.
“Each time we invite him, he gives us excuses,” Musa said.
The committee subsequently resolved to recommend Magaji’s removal, citing concerns over accountability and transparency at the commission.
Further details are expected.
