Singer Seyi Vibez takes down Hilda Baci posts after legal threat
Street-pop singer Seyi Vibez has removed social media posts concerning celebrity chef Hilda Baci, hours after receiving a legal warning over the publications.
The development comes amid an ongoing dispute between the singer and his former record label, Dapper Music, owned by Damilola Akinwunmi, popularly known as Dapper.
Seyi Vibez had joined former Dapper Music artistes Shallipopi and T.I Blaze in publicly accusing the label of alleged royalty issues and missing funds reportedly amounting to about N1 billion.
The singer’s decision to delete the posts followed the legal warning, which threatened possible court action over the claims involving Hilda Baci.
In the heat of the exchange on X, Seyi Vibez made allegations against Hilda Baci, Dapper’s girlfriend. He claimed the music executive used money from their catalogue to fund Hilda’s cosmetic surgery, and also made disparaging remarks about her food business.
Hilda, through her lawyers, responded with a cease-and-desist letter. She described the posts as defamatory and demanded that Seyi Vibez take them down and issue a public apology, or face legal action.
“We hereby demand that upon receipt of this letter, you immediately remove and permanently delete the above referenced publications together with any other statement, post, comment, image, video and repost,” the letter read.
The lawyers further demanded: “Issue a clear and unequivocal public apology and retraction in respect of the offending publications, to be published prominently and contemporaneously across all your social media accounts.”
Following the warning, Seyi Vibez deleted all posts referencing Hilda Baci. As of press time, he is yet to issue the demanded public apology. Seyi Vibez signed with Dapper Music in 2022. He announced his exit in September 2024 and now describes himself as an “Independent artist.”
