The walk through the dark tunnel is over, the light is here — Tinubu tell Nigerians
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has once again assured Nigerians that the economic reforms introduced by his administration are beginning to yield positive outcomes, insisting that the “sacrifices” being made by citizens are necessary for national recovery.
In his 2026 Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, the President said the country is currently on a “journey of reconstruction and renewal,” noting that ongoing policy reforms, though difficult, are designed to secure long-term prosperity.
He argued that the past three years of economic adjustments have helped stabilise key indicators and improved Nigeria’s attractiveness to investors.
> “Just as sacrifice brings reward, I am happy that the sacrifices and efforts we have made over the past three years have yielded a more stable economy, making our country a preferred investment destination that will drive job creation and economic growth. The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” Tinubu said.
The President linked his message to the spiritual significance of Eid-el-Kabir, drawing lessons from Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God, and urging Nigerians to embrace unity, compassion, and selflessness.
Tinubu also acknowledged ongoing security challenges, including continued attacks by terrorists and bandits in parts of the country, while insisting that government efforts were intensifying to restore peace and stability.
He reassured citizens that his administration remains committed to defeating insecurity and expanding opportunity across the country, even as isolated incidents persist.
> “I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” he said.
The President urged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the nation, support the less privileged, and strengthen national unity across ethnic and religious lines.
He further restated his administration’s commitment to investing in critical sectors such as security, agriculture, infrastructure, and human capital development, describing them as central to Nigeria’s long-term transformation.
Tinubu also encouraged citizens to remain hopeful, even in the face of hardship, while calling for patience as reforms continue to take effect.
