Tinubu, Atiku observe Eid prayers in Lagos, Abuja, call for unity and national peace
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday joined Muslim faithful to observe Eid prayers at Dodan Barracks in Lagos, as the Eid-el-Kabir celebration drew top political and religious leaders across the country.
The President was accompanied by key government officials, including Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, and other dignitaries.
According to presidential aide Dada Olusegun, Tinubu observed the prayers alongside other Muslim faithful in what was described as a moment of reflection and spiritual devotion.
In a post shared on social media, Olusegun noted the presence of senior political figures and party loyalists at the Eid gathering, which took place within the military facility in Lagos.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also joined Muslim faithful at the AYA Mosque in Abuja for the Eid prayers, where he offered prayers for national unity, peace, and divine guidance for the country.
Atiku said the occasion was marked in gratitude to Allah for His blessings and called on Nigerians to embrace the spirit of sacrifice and compassion associated with Eid-el-Kabir.
> “As we celebrate this sacred occasion, may the spirit of Eid strengthen our bonds of unity, compassion, sacrifice, and peace as one people and one nation,” Atiku said.
The former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party also extended Eid greetings to Muslims across Nigeria and the world, praying for lasting peace and prosperity in the country.

The parallel observance of Eid prayers by both leaders highlights the continued political presence of key national figures during major religious celebrations, with renewed calls for unity amid Nigeria’s social and economic challenges.
