Tinubu embarks on France, Kenya, Rwanda diplomatic tour for key economic summits
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to depart Abuja on Saturday, May 2, for a three-nation diplomatic tour covering France, Kenya, and Rwanda.
According to a State House statement released on May 1, the President will begin his trip in France before heading to Nairobi to participate in the Africa-France Summit scheduled for May 11–12.
The summit, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, will focus on key areas such as energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and reforms to the global financial system.
Held under the theme “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” the gathering is expected to bring together leaders from across Africa and France to deliberate on economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and peace-building.
Following the Kenya engagement, President Tinubu will proceed to Kigali for the Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14–15.
The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” will host over 2,000 business leaders, investors, and policymakers, and is being organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation.
During the engagements, the President is expected to present Nigeria’s economic reform agenda, aimed at attracting investment and accelerating growth, while also holding high-level meetings with global and African business leaders.
He will be accompanied by senior government officials and is expected to return to Nigeria after concluding his engagements in Rwanda.
