UK State Visit: Remi Tinubu to lead sermon at Lambeth Palace
Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, is set to preach at Lambeth Palace in London on Thursday as part of the activities scheduled for President Bola Tinubu’s historic state visit to the United Kingdom.
Lambeth Palace, the official residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury, is a central hub for the Church of England. The First Lady is also expected to meet with church representatives during her visit, reinforcing her engagement in faith-based diplomacy.
This visit marks Nigeria’s first state visit to the UK in nearly 40 years and aims to strengthen bilateral relations, covering diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties.
President Tinubu and Mrs Tinubu arrived in London on Tuesday, landing at Stansted Airport ahead of a series of formal meetings, including engagements with King Charles III, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, and Nigeria’s diaspora in the UK.
Mrs Tinubu, an ordained pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has been active in religious initiatives and women’s empowerment programmes in Nigeria, and her participation in Lambeth Palace events underscores her continued commitment to faith and social development.
