Philip Aduda, the lawmaker who represented the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the 9th Senate, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a resignation letter dated March 17, addressed to PDP leadership in his Karu ward, Aduda cited the ongoing crisis within the party as his reason for stepping down, though he did not disclose his next political move.

In the letter, Aduda expressed gratitude for the opportunities PDP afforded him to serve in various elective positions.

Close associates, however, told our correspondent that the former senator is expected to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming days.

Since losing his seat in the 2023 general elections to Senator Ireti Kingibe, Aduda has reportedly been working closely with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in an unofficial capacity. Wike has previously criticised Kingibe’s performance in the Senate, vowing she would not return to the Red Chamber.
