2027: Kwankwaso disguised, obtained our party forms for loyalists in Kano, we will sue him — PRP
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has accused the Vice Presidential candidate of the NDC, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of allegedly taking possession of 69 nomination forms meant for various political offices in Kano State, a development the party says has created confusion and uncertainty among its aspirants.
Speaking during a press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Kano, the PRP State Chairman, Abdulkadir Musa Guza, alleged that party officials discovered the forms had already been collected when they travelled to Kaduna for a party retreat and to obtain nomination forms for aspirants who had paid for them.
According to Guza, inquiries revealed that Kwankwaso had allegedly collected all the available forms amid ongoing discussions about his possible defection to the PRP.
> “I was in Kaduna as State Chairman of the PRP to participate in the party retreat and also obtain forms for my people who were contesting various offices in Kano and who had paid for them, but I was told that someone had purchased all the forms,” he said.
Guza claimed that after several days passed without any indication that Kwankwaso intended to join the party, concerns grew that the move may have been aimed at disrupting the party’s preparations for upcoming elections.
The PRP chairman further alleged that the former Kano governor may have obtained nomination forms from other political parties as well, arguing that the situation has left many aspirants uncertain about their political future.
He warned that the party would initiate legal proceedings if the forms were not returned before the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the submission of candidates’ names.
> “That is why we are taking legal action against him should he refuse to surrender our forms before INEC closes the deadline for submission of candidates’ names,” Guza stated.
He added that hundreds of prospective candidates who intended to contest under the PRP platform are now unsure of their next steps.
The allegations have yet to receive an official response from Kwankwaso or his representatives.
