Kano lawmaker Sani Wakili resigns from ADC
Hon. Sani Adamu Wakili, the lawmaker representing Minjibir/Ungogo Federal Constituency in Kano State, has resigned his membership of the African Democratic Congress, in the latest sign of growing uncertainty within the party.
In a resignation letter dated April 30, 2026, and addressed to the party chairman in Zango Ward, Ungogo Local Government Area, Wakili said his decision takes immediate effect.
The federal lawmaker explained that recent developments at the national level of the party had made it difficult for him to continue contributing meaningfully to its activities.
“It has been a privilege to be associated with the party. However, recent developments at the national level have made it untenable for me to continue my participation,” he stated.
Despite his exit, Wakili reaffirmed his commitment to his constituents, stressing that his dedication to public service remains unchanged regardless of his political affiliation.
“As the representative of the good people of Minjibir/Ungogo Federal Constituency, I remain committed to making the necessary sacrifices to improve their lives,” he added.
He also expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunity to serve, wishing its leadership success in future endeavours.
Wakili’s resignation comes amid a wave of internal challenges and defections within the ADC, as political actors continue to reposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
