Jigawa: Teenage boy loses life after drowning in pond

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State has confirmed the death of a 15-year-old boy, Isah Muhammad, who drowned in a pond popularly known as Sterling Pond along Disina Road in Dutse Local Government Area.

The tragic incident was confirmed in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud.

According to the statement, the NSCDC received a distress call shortly after the incident was reported.

In response, personnel from the Takur Site Division were immediately deployed to the location to carry out rescue efforts and assess the situation.

‎The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday at about 4:30 p.m. after the victim, a resident of Bokoto Quarters in Dutse, was reportedly swimming in the pond.

‎According to the statement, the officers evacuated the victim to the General Hospital, Dutse, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.

‎The NSCDC said the body was subsequently released to the deceased’s family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

‎The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, expressed condolences to the family over the loss of the teenager.

‎He prayed for Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and give his family the strength to bear the loss.
