JUST-IN: Tinubu meets Service Chiefs, restates commitment to Nigerians’ safety
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently holding an extended security meeting with all the Service Chiefs at the State House.
The meeting includes the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the DSS, and heads of the country’s intelligence agencies.
In a post shared on his social media page, President Tinubu said they are reviewing the latest security reports and taking strong steps to stabilise affected communities and protect citizens across the country.
“I am receiving continuous briefings and have directed our security services to move with speed, precision, and absolute resolve. As President, I am fully committed to the security of all Nigerians.”
“Those who threaten the peace and security of our nation will face the full weight of the law. Nigeria will prevail,” he said.
Earlier, Very Nigerian reported that President Tinubu had confirmed the rescue of all 38 worshippers kidnapped in Eruku, Kwara State, as well as 51 students abducted from a Catholic school in Niger State.
In a statement posted on X on Sunday by Olusegun Dada, his Special Assistant on Social Media, the president praised the efforts of security forces in securing the victims’ release.
“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State, have been rescued,” Tinubu said.
“I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State have been recovered.”
He added that he is closely monitoring the security situation nationwide and receiving continuous updates from the frontline.
“Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety, and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” the president said.
