BREAKING: Tinubu appoints three new Ambassadors, seek Senate’s confirmation

Published

President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting the screening and confirmation of three non-career ambassadorial nominees.

The nominees are Kayode Are from Ogun State, Aminu Dalhatu from Jigawa State, and Ayodele Oke from Oyo State.

The request was conveyed in a letter read during Tuesday’s plenary by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

Tinubu explained that the nominations were made in line with Section 171 (1), (2)(c) and (4) of the 1999 Constitution as amended. He urged the Senate to “consider and confirm the appointments of the nominees expeditiously” and extended his “assurances of highest consideration” to the lawmakers.

Akpabio subsequently referred the nominees to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Senator Sani Bello, with a directive to screen them and report back to the chamber within one week.
