The Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola, Adamawa State, has announced vacancies for qualified candidates across academic, administrative, engineering, medical, sports, procurement and technical positions.

The recruitment covers 48 listed positions, including Lecturer III, Assistant Lecturer, Assistant Registrar, Engineers, Pharmacist, Medical Officer, Sports Officers and ICT-related roles.

Established in 1974 as a middle-level teacher training institute, the institution was initially known as the Federal Advanced Teachers’ College (FATC), Yola. Academic activities commenced in the 1975/76 academic session with 150 students.

Lecturer III

FCE Yola is recruiting Lecturer III candidates in:

Candidates for Lecturer III positions must possess a good degree with at least Second Class or a Master’s degree.

They are also required to provide:

• NYSC discharge or exemption certificate;
• Evidence of registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN);
• Good knowledge of computers;
• Successful external assessment; and
• Evidence of community service.

The advert states that no journal articles, book chapters/major exhibitions or inventions, and conference/seminar paper presentations are required for the listed Lecturer III positions.

Assistant Lecturer

Applicants for Assistant Lecturer positions must possess a good degree of at least Second Class.

Other requirements include NYSC discharge or exemption, TRCN registration, good computer knowledge, successful external assessment and evidence of community service.

Administrative, Engineering and Professional Positions

Assistant Registrar (Legal Officer)

Applicants must have at least a Second Class Honours degree in Law from a recognised institution, together with NYSC discharge or exemption.

Relevant cognate experience, membership of a relevant professional body and good computer knowledge are also required.

Principal Engineer (Mechanical)

Candidates must possess a good first degree in Mechanical Engineering registrable with COREN, alongside NYSC.

Applicants must have at least eight years’ cognate experience, or six years for candidates with a Master’s degree, and must demonstrate good computer knowledge.

Chief Engineer (Civil)

Applicants must possess a good first degree in Civil Engineering and be registered with COREN, alongside NYSC.

The position requires at least 12 years’ cognate experience, or nine years for candidates with a Master’s degree.

Senior Procurement Officer

Candidates must have at least a Second Class Honours degree in one of the following areas:

• Marketing
• Economics
• Purchasing and Supply
• Quantity Surveying
• Project Engineering

NYSC discharge or exemption, relevant cognate experience, membership of a relevant professional body and computer proficiency are also required.

Principal Pharmacist

Candidates must possess a good Pharmacy degree from a recognised institution, registrable with the Pharmacist Registration Board of Nigeria (PRBN).

The position requires at least six years’ post-registration cognate experience and an NYSC discharge certificate.

Medical Officer

Applicants must possess a good degree in Medicine from a recognised institution, registrable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

Candidates must have at least one year of post-registration cognate experience and an NYSC discharge certificate.

Senior Assistant Registrar

Candidates must have at least a Second Class Honours degree in Arts or Social Sciences from a recognised institution, plus NYSC discharge or exemption.

Relevant cognate experience, membership of a relevant professional body and good computer knowledge are also required.

Sports and Technical Positions

Sports Officer II

Applicants must possess a good first degree in B.Ed/B.Sc Physical and Health Education, alongside NYSC and good computer knowledge.

Principal Sports Officer

Candidates must have a good first degree in Physical and Health Education and NYSC.

The position requires at least eight years’ cognate experience and computer proficiency.

Higher Executive Officer – Sign Language Interpreter

Applicants must possess at least an NCE in Hearing Impaired Education, with a minimum of three years’ cognate experience and acceptable proficiency in Sign Language Interpreting.

Higher Data Processing Officer

Candidates must possess at least a good National Diploma in Computer Science or Data Processing with a minimum of five years’ cognate experience.

Alternatively, holders of an HND in Computer Science with NYSC discharge or exemption may apply.
