At the Villa: Tinubu hosts Gov Alex Otti amid talks on Nnamdi Kanu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday hosted Abia State Governor Alex Otti at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Otti, dressed in a grey knee-length traditional outfit, arrived at the President’s office complex for a meeting widely viewed as part of his ongoing efforts to seek a resolution to the detention of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The visit to the Villa comes barely days after Otti travelled to the Sokoto Correctional Centre, where he met with Kanu, who is currently serving a conviction.

The governor was accompanied on that trip by Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanuel Kanu; the Abia State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ikechukwu Uwanna (SAN); and his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma. Officials of the Sokoto State Government facilitated the group’s access to the facility.

Speaking with journalists after the visit to the prison, Otti stressed that issues surrounding Kanu’s detention remain a major priority for his administration.

His media aide later reiterated that Abia State is deploying a coordinated and lawful approach in its push for Kanu’s release.

“While Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is free to appeal his conviction, I’m happy to inform you that I have activated and will continue to work on the already agreed strategy until his freedom is secured,” the governor said.

Although the Presidency has not disclosed details of Tuesday’s discussions, the meeting is believed to form part of Otti’s broader political and legal engagements aimed at bringing closure to the long-running matter.
