Fire guts another market in Yobe, destroy goods
A devastating fire broke out on Monday and completely destroyed Fika Main Market in Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State, causing serious damage to businesses and property.
Reports say the fire razed important structures in the market and left many traders in deep distress.
Several shop owners lost their goods, and dozens of families who depend on daily sales at the market for survival have now been thrown into hardship.
The incident happened just minutes after authorities reviewed plans to assist victims of earlier fire outbreaks in Bukarti and other communities in Yunusari, Geidam and Yusufari local government areas.
Yobe State Emergency Management Agency has confirmed the incident where it commiserated with the affected business operators at the market.
“Government stands firmly with you in this trying moment and will continue to provide the necessary support within available resources”, SEMA said.
The agency urged all communities to remain at alert, prioritize safety, and report emergencies promptly.
