Disu joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on May 18, 1992. Before his appointment, he served as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos.

During his career, he held several strategic positions, including Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory and Rivers State, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Intelligence Response Team, and Commander of the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos between 2015 and 2021. He also served as Aide-de-Camp to a former governor of Lagos State and participated in international peacekeeping operations, including leading the first Nigerian Police contingent to the African Union Mission in Sudan in 2005.

Beyond policing, he is a decorated martial artist and former National Chairman of the Nigeria Police Judo Association, holding a third-degree black belt and winning a silver medal at the 2022 U.S. Open Judo Championships.

The Nigeria Police Force expressed appreciation to former IGP Egbetokun for his contributions to the modernisation and strengthening of the Force.

Disu has pledged to consolidate ongoing reforms, strengthen community policing, and enhance internal security, while assuring officers and the public of his commitment to professionalism and improved service delivery.
