President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State, describing them as “desperate” acts, while vowing that Nigeria will achieve total victory over terrorist groups.

The President, in a statement, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, sympathised with those injured, and assured residents of Borno State of the Federal Government’s full support.

He described the attacks as “profoundly upsetting,” noting that they were the actions of criminal elements attempting to spread fear despite mounting pressure from security forces.

Tinubu said the attacks were “final desperate and frantic attempts” by terrorists who are being confronted by the military and other security agencies across various operations in the country.

He commended the efforts of security personnel, praising their courage in repelling coordinated attacks on military positions in the state.

The President assured Nigerians that the government would intensify its efforts to eliminate all forms of criminality and terrorism nationwide.

He disclosed that additional equipment and operational support had recently been approved for security agencies to strengthen their capabilities in ongoing operations.

Tinubu also directed security chiefs to immediately relocate to Maiduguri to take charge of the situation and coordinate response efforts.

In addition, he instructed emergency response agencies to ensure proper medical care and support for victims of the attacks.

Reaffirming his administration’s resolve, the President said there would be no safe haven for terrorists anywhere in Nigeria, stressing that security forces would locate, confront and defeat them.

He further assured that the country would not succumb to fear amid ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability.
