BREAKING: INEC derecognises David Mark as ADC Chairman
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will no longer accept correspondences from the rival factions of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by David Mark and Rafiu Bala.
In a statement signed by Mohammed Kudu, Chairman of Information and Voter Education, the commission said the decision followed a review of the Court of Appeal judgment delivered on March 12.
INEC stated that it would also cease all forms of engagement with both factions, including monitoring their meetings, congresses, and conventions, pending the determination of the matter before the Federal High Court.
The commission further disclosed that it would remove the name of David Mark from its official portal as part of the measures taken in response to the ongoing leadership dispute within the party.
The crisis stems from a legal challenge initiated by Rafiu Bala, a former vice chairman of the ADC, who is contesting the emergence of David Mark and members of the party’s caretaker committee at the National Working Committee level.
The development marks a significant escalation in the internal crisis rocking the ADC, as the electoral body moves to distance itself from the conflicting leadership claims until the courts provide clarity.
