‘Alcohol is harmful to human body, encourages banditry in Nigeria’ – NAFDAC
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has said alcohol consumption encourages banditry in Nigeria.
NAFDAC Director-General, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, made the statement on Wednesday while responding to questions during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.
Adeyeye also warned about the harmful effects of alcohol on the human body, noting that the substance can damage vital organs, including the kidneys and liver.
She said that although the ban did not sit well with some people, Nigerians are concerned about the future of their children.
The NAFDAC boss further noted that the sale of alcohol in sachets and PET bottles was approved decades ago but became uncontrollable, prompting NAFDAC to ensure that the sale of alcohol in containers of less than 200ml is banned.
