The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received agrément from the United Kingdom for High Commissioner-designate Aminu Dalhatu, while France has also approved the posting of Ambassador Ayodele Oke.
According to Onanuga, the ministry has communicated the nominations of the remaining 62 envoys to their respective host countries and requested agrément in line with diplomatic procedures.
Agrément is the formal consent given by a receiving country before a designated ambassador can assume duty.
Tinubu has also directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to begin an induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and high commissioners.
The Senate had earlier confirmed the 65 nominees in December 2025 following their screening by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.
The postings include both political appointees, known as non-career ambassadors, and professional diplomats from the foreign service classified as career ambassadors.
Nigeria currently maintains diplomatic missions in more than 100 countries worldwide through embassies, high commissions and consulates.
The last major ambassadorial postings were carried out in 2017 during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, leaving several Nigerian missions without substantive ambassadors for years.
The newly posted ambassadors are expected to assume their duties after completing the induction programme and receiving agrément from their host countries.
