Manchester United revived their push for a Champions League spot on Monday night after dismantling struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers 4–1 at Molineux, with captain Bruno Fernandes producing a commanding performance.

Ruben Amorim’s men, still smarting from their disappointing draw with West Ham, responded in emphatic fashion as Fernandes grabbed a brace, while Bryan Mbeumo and Mason Mount also found the net.

Wolves briefly restored hope when Jean-Ricner Bellegarde levelled the score late in the first half, their first goal in six matches across all competitions and their first Premier League strike since October 26.

But United returned from the break relentless, scoring three unanswered goals to secure only their second win in six games.

The result offers much-needed relief for United, who recently suffered an embarrassing 1–0 defeat to 10-man Everton and were booed off at Old Trafford after a 1–1 draw with West Ham.

Monday’s win lifts the Red Devils within touching distance of the top four, now just one point behind.

For Wolves, the crisis deepens.

Their eighth straight league defeat equals their worst Premier League run since the early 1980s, keeping new manager Rob Edwards searching for his first victory since replacing Vítor Pereira in November.

With only two points from 15 matches, Wolves are now flirting with Derby County’s infamous record of the lowest points tally in a Premier League season.

United could have gone ahead early when Diogo Dalot broke free but shot tamely at goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

Moments later, Wolves fans, who staged a 15-minute boycott to protest ownership, returned to see Matheus Cunha go close.

United eventually took the lead in the 25th minute after a defensive calamity: André’s poor back-pass allowed Cunha to set up Fernandes, whose initially mishit effort trickled past Johnstone to the disbelief of home supporters.

After wasting further chances, United were punished on the stroke of halftime when Bellegarde stabbed home from 12 yards following sustained Wolves pressure.

However, United reasserted control swiftly. Mount combined neatly with Dalot, whose cutback gifted Mbeumo an easy finish in the 51st minute.

Mount then added his own goal just past the hour, arriving perfectly to smash home Fernandes’ delivery.

Fernandes rounded off a man-of-the-match display in the 82nd minute, burying a penalty after Yerson Mosquera handled in the box, sealing a dominant night for the visitors and keeping their Champions League hopes alive.
