Like Tinubu, APC chairman Yilwatda jets out of Nigeria for two-week vacation
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has commenced a two-week vacation outside Nigeria following what the party described as a demanding first year in office.
The development was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement by the chairman’s Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki.
According to Tooki, the vacation will provide Yilwatda with an opportunity to rest, rejuvenate and reflect on the development of the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Since assuming office, Yilwatda has focused on strengthening the APC’s internal structures and promoting greater cohesion among party stakeholders, according to the statement.
The party said the break would also enable the national chairman to reflect on its next phase of development as preparations intensify for the 2027 electoral season.
“The vacation will provide the National Chairman an opportunity to rest, rejuvenate and reflect on the party’s next phase of development ahead of the 2027 general elections,” the statement said.
The APC added that Yilwatda would use the period to fine-tune arrangements for the forthcoming National Working Committee (NWC) retreat.
The retreat is expected to assess the progress recorded under the current leadership and map out strategies ahead of the 2027 elections.
The ruling party also assured that Yilwatda’s temporary absence would not affect its operations or the functioning of its leadership organs.
It said members of the NWC would continue to perform their responsibilities in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution throughout the chairman’s absence.
Yilwatda is expected to return to Nigeria at the end of the two-week vacation and resume his official duties as the APC continues preparations for the 2027 general elections.
