Peter Obi storms Plateau, meets victims of deadly Mangu attack

The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has arrived in Jos, Plateau State, ahead of his planned solidarity visit to Mangu Local Government Area over the recent deadly attacks on communities in the area.

Obi arrived at the Yakubu Gowon Airport in Heipang on Tuesday, where he was received by Plateau State executives and other leaders of the NDC.

The visit is expected to allow Obi to identify with victims and families affected by the attacks, which reportedly claimed several lives, left others injured and resulted in the destruction of property.

The former Anambra State governor is also expected to express his sympathy and support to residents affected by the incident during the visit.

Party supporters and other stakeholders gathered to receive Obi, who is expected to proceed to Mangu to assess the situation and interact with victims, community leaders and other stakeholders.

During the visit, the NDC presidential candidate is expected to commiserate with families who lost their loved ones and offer words of encouragement to residents still grappling with the aftermath of the attack.

He is also expected to listen to firsthand accounts from survivors and community leaders on the circumstances surrounding the incident and the security challenges confronting communities in the area.

The visit is expected to draw renewed attention to the plight of communities affected by recurring attacks in parts of Plateau State, amid calls by residents and stakeholders for urgent measures to protect lives and property.

Obi is also expected to advocate improved security and sustained support for victims of violent attacks, while urging relevant authorities to take decisive steps towards ending the cycle of killings and displacement in vulnerable communities.
