PSC officially hands over 50,000 new police constables for training

The Police Service Commission has officially transferred 50,000 newly recruited Police Constables to the Nigeria Police Force for the next stage of their training.

The handover ceremony was held on Wednesday at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, signalling the end of the recruitment process and the beginning of preparations to train the successful applicants.

According to a statement issued by the PSC spokesperson, Torty Njoku, the recruitment exercise was conducted in line with the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and in compliance with the relevant legal provisions governing the exercise.

Presiding over the ceremony on behalf of the PSC Chairman, Hon. Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (retd.), Commissioner 1 of the Commission thanked the President for his support and formally handed over the recruits to the police for training at designated Police Colleges and other approved institutions.

He said the training would be conducted in accordance with established standards and best practices.

The Commission also handed over the detailed list of successful candidates to the police through a flash drive.

Receiving the recruits on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Isyaku Mohammed, in charge of Training and Development, commended the PSC for conducting what he described as a transparent recruitment exercise.

He assured that training of the recruits would commence nationwide once funds were released.

The Ministry of Police Affairs, represented by the Director of Police Service Department, Mr. Ibrahim A. Muhammad, also described the recruitment process as credible and transparent.

The Secretary to the PSC, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, who attended the ceremony, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the exercise, attributing its success to the collaboration and commitment of all stakeholders involved.
