Shettima departs Abuja to represent Tinubu at G20 Leaders’ Summit in South Africa
Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.
This follows President Tinubu’s decision to remain in Nigeria to focus on the growing security concerns in the country.
According to a statement issued by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications in the Office of the Vice President, President Tinubu postponed his earlier planned trip to South Africa in order to receive further security briefings on the recent attacks in Kebbi and Kwara States.
South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa, who is also the current President of the G20 group, had invited President Tinubu to take part in this year’s summit.
The event, scheduled for Saturday, November 22nd to Sunday, November 23rd, will hold at the Johannesburg Expo Centre and will bring together leaders from the world’s 20 major economies, alongside the European Union, the African Union, and key financial institutions.
