‘This Is Your Final Year in Office’ — ADC sends strong message to Tinubu

The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has delivered a strongly worded birthday message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, criticising his administration over rising insecurity and economic hardship.

In a post shared on his X handle on Sunday to mark Tinubu’s 74th birthday, Abdullahi expressed concern over what he described as worsening living conditions across the country.

He alleged that fuel prices have surged by nearly 500 per cent under the current administration, forcing many Nigerians to struggle with daily transportation costs and basic survival.

Abdullahi further claimed that Nigeria’s security situation has deteriorated, citing the country’s position on the Global Terrorism Index and the continued loss of lives to violent attacks.

According to him, insecurity has not only persisted but evolved, while the government’s response has, at times, failed to demonstrate sufficient accountability.

He also accused the administration of presiding over a shrinking political space, warning of a potential drift toward a one-party system, which he said could undermine Nigeria’s democratic foundations.

Despite the criticism, Abdullahi framed his message as a moment for reflection, urging the President to prioritise governance and demonstrate stronger leadership in the period ahead.

“As you celebrate, Nigerians can only hope for a shift, that governance becomes more responsive, that the loss of lives is treated with the urgency it deserves, and that leadership reflects the weight of responsibility placed on it,” he stated.

He concluded by wishing the President good health, improved judgment, and a renewed sense of responsibility to Nigerians.
