Two Police Constable applicants caught with fake NECO certificates in Bauchi
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two constable candidates for alleged certificate forgery during recruitment at the Police Training School, Bauchi.
Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, disclosed in a statement on Friday that the screening was led by A.Y. Dickson, who headed the recruitment team at the training school.
A total of 403 candidates were screened, comprising 354 general duty applicants and 49 specialists.
Habib explained that the two arrested candidates were found with forged results from the National Examinations Council (NECO). Both suspects reportedly shared the same name, Yusuf Usman, and had been moving together throughout the screening process before the falsified documents were detected.
“The team screened 354 General Duty and 49 Specialists, making a total of 403 candidates. Two candidates were arrested with forged NECO results, both named Yusuf Usman, and they were moving together throughout the process,” he said.
The suspects have been handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of ‘E’ Division for further investigation.
Habib also warned applicants against engaging in fraudulent activities during recruitment exercises.
The screening forms part of the nationwide recruitment of 50,000 police constables, which began on Monday.
