‘You are living in political fantasy’ – Presidency mocks Obi over 2023 election victory claim

The Presidency has criticised Peter Obi over his claim that he won the 2023 presidential election, describing the former Labour Party candidate’s position as unrealistic and driven by political ambition.

The reaction came through the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, who accused Obi of living in what he described as a political fantasy.

Dare said Obi was “fat on ambition but drunk on political arrogance.”

The Presidency’s comments followed renewed claims by Obi regarding the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, which was won by Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obi, who came third in the election, had challenged the result in court alongside other candidates, but the Supreme Court ultimately upheld Tinubu’s victory.

The Presidency added: “Peter Obi wallows freely in a political fantasy land. To still insist he won the presidential election after the country’s highest court, the Supreme Court, delivered a final judgment is clear hallucination.

“Who imbued him with the power to concede or not? He lacks such power. Only the Nigerian people have the power of the votes. And in 2027, they will deliver their votes massively for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, leaving no room for the kind of antics Peter Obi is already front-loading.”
