‘You can’t harass me’ – Orji Kalu fires back at Channels TV anchor Seun Okinbaloye

A live television interview on Wednesday turned tense as the Senator representing Abia North, Orji Kalu, exchanged heated words with Channels Television anchor Seun Okinbaloye, accusing the journalist of trying to harass him during the programme.

The disagreement arose when Okinbaloye questioned Kalu about the economic policies of the administration of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, particularly the controversial printing of money, which has been blamed by many analysts for contributing to Nigeria’s rising inflation.

While defending the policies of the current administration, Kalu insisted that decisions taken by the Buhari government also played a significant role in shaping the country’s current economic challenges.

“Mind you, the previous government front loaded some of the oil. Some crude oil were sold,” Kalu said.

He added, “I don’t even know who among them will do anything better than what is being done. They printed money and we questioned them.”

As Okinbaloye continued to press him on the issue, Kalu expressed frustration with the line of questioning.

“You can’t call people here to harass them. You can’t harass me. This is no longer an interview,” the senator said.

The tense exchange came as the programme discussed the economic challenges inherited by the current administration, including the impact of the previous government’s monetary policies.
