2027 Elections: INEC publishes final list of 1,195 Senate, 3,213 Reps candidates (Full List)

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates contesting the 2027 National Assembly elections, with a total of 4,408 candidates cleared to contest seats in the Senate and House of Representatives.

The final lists, published by the electoral commission, comprise 1,195 candidates for the Senate and 3,213 candidates for the House of Representatives.

The publication comes as political parties and candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for January 16, 2027.

According to INEC’s election timetable, the governorship and State House of Assembly elections will follow on February 6, 2027.

3,965 Male, 443 Female Candidates

An analysis of the final list showed a significant gender disparity among the candidates contesting the National Assembly seats.

Of the 4,408 candidates, 3,965 are male, while only 443 are female.

For the Senate, 1,080 candidates are male and 115 are female.

The House of Representatives has 2,885 male candidates and 328 female candidates.

The figures highlight the continued low representation of women among candidates seeking elective positions at the federal level.

APM Leads in Female Representation

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) fielded the highest number of female candidates across the two chambers.

The party has 11 female candidates contesting Senate seats and 42 female candidates seeking election to the House of Representatives.

The final list covers candidates nominated by political parties for the various senatorial districts and federal constituencies across the country.

18 Presidential Candidates Also Listed

The latest publication follows INEC’s release of the final list of presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2027 election.

The presidential list contains 18 candidates and their running mates across various political parties.

Among the candidates are President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Others include Oyo State Governor Oluseyi Makinde of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Sandy Ojang Onor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

Also on the list are Rufai Adekunle Omo-Aje of the Action Alliance (AA), Abbas-Bin Aliyu of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Yusuf Kabiru of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC), Sunday Adenuga of the Boot Party (BP), Adebisi Olusoji of the Democratic Labour Alliance (DLA), Sunday Okereke of the Labour Party (LP), Adewole Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Peter Agada of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), and Nwanyanwu Daberechukwu of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

Two female candidates also made the presidential list: Ada Elizabeth Frederick Okwori of the National Democratic Party (NDP) and Nkem Esther Okereke of the National Rescue Movement (NRM).

With the publication of the final candidates’ lists, political parties and their candidates are now set for the final phase of campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections.
