BREAKING: Senate swiftly screens, confirms Muttaqha Darma as Minister
The Senate has confirmed the nomination of Muttaqha Rabe Darma as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, following his screening by lawmakers on Thursday.
Darma, who was nominated on Wednesday by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is set to join the Federal Executive Council as a replacement for former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.
The confirmation came after the Senate considered his nomination during plenary.
Godswill Akpabio had earlier read the President’s communication and referred the nominee to the Committee of the Whole for prompt screening and consideration.
Before his appointment, Darma served as Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, where he played a key role in advancing capacity development within the oil and gas sector.
His confirmation completes the process of replacing Dangiwa, who recently exited the cabinet, paving the way for a new leadership phase in the ministry.
