ADC: We will triumph in all cases — David Mark reacts to Fed High Court judgment

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says it will challenge the recent Federal High Court ruling that restricts the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising its state congresses, insisting the setback will not stop the party from participating in the 2027 general elections.

The judgment, delivered in Abuja, halted recognition of congresses conducted by committees set up under the party’s current national leadership led by Senator David Mark. The decision has deepened internal uncertainty within the ADC, particularly over the legitimacy of its ongoing organisational structures ahead of the next election cycle.

Reacting to the development on Wednesday night after a briefing from the party’s legal team, Mark dismissed concerns that the ruling could weaken the party’s electoral chances.

“You do not have anything to be afraid of regarding all the litigations before the party. I want to assure you that we shall triumph in all the cases, and we shall be on the ballot for every election,” he said.

The former Senate President confirmed that the party has already activated legal steps to challenge the judgment, including filing an appeal and seeking a stay of execution.

“We are more than prepared and ready for these cases, and we shall do everything within the ambit of the law to surmount every situation,” he added.

Mark maintained that the ADC leadership remains confident despite mounting legal pressures and competing claims within the party’s structure, stressing that the party would not be distracted from its preparations for 2027.

“In this legal battle, though I am not a lawyer, I will lead from the front, and we shall surely triumph,” he said.

The court ruling adds to a growing list of pre-election legal disputes affecting major political parties, with analysts warning that internal leadership crises could shape party readiness, candidate selection, and ultimately influence the 2027 electoral landscape.
