The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that airlifting of pilgrims from the state for the 2026 Hajj will begin on May 14, 2026.

The Director General of the board, Abubakar Matawalle, made this known on Monday during the closing ceremony of the Hajj Induction Course held at the School for Arabic Studies.

He explained that the development is part of final preparations for the 2026 Hajj exercise, as authorities intensify efforts to ensure a smooth and well-organised pilgrimage for intending pilgrims from the state.

He said, “According to the schedule released by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Kano State will commence its inaugural flight to Saudi Arabia on 14 May 2026, with Max Air as the designated carrier.”

He further disclosed that the Board has completed all necessary arrangements in advance to ensure a smooth and successful commencement of Hajj operations.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Yusuf Lawan, urged pilgrims to regularly review their Hajj induction materials at home for their own benefit.

He also advised them to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations set by both the Nigerian and Saudi Arabian authorities throughout the pilgrimage.

Some security agencies and service partners involved in the pilgrimage, including Immigration, NDLEA, Hajj Tribunal, NOA, Max Air, and Hisbah, were among the dignitaries who delivered messages during the occasion.
