Ex-NPA boss Omar Suleiman clinches Adamawa ADC governorship ticket
Former Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Amb. Omar Suleiman, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress for the Adamawa State election.
The outcome of the party primary was announced on Tuesday in Yola by members of the Governorship Primary Committee after votes from the 21 local government areas were collated.
According to the results released by the committee, Suleiman secured 143,216 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Hamman Tukur Modibbo, who scored 56,801 votes.
Third-placed Ishaya Inuwa received a total of 20,343 votes.
On the strength of the respective votes scored, Chairman of the state primary election committee, Dr Nicholas Msheliza pronounced Omar Suleiman as the duly elected governorship candidate for the state.
The ADC governorship candidate is a former NPA MD who also served as Nigeria’s ambassador to Democratic Republic of Congo.
Suleiman had unveiled an agenda that placed emphasis on job creation and youth empowerment.
