President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, ahead of his participation in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), scheduled to commence on Monday.

The President’s aircraft touched down at the Presidential Wing of Zayed International Airport at exactly 11:30pm local time on Sunday.

He was received by Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi; Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; as well as officials of the Nigerian diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi.

Other members of the Nigerian delegation, including the Minister of Budget and Planning, Atiku Bagudu; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Muhammed Muhammed, later welcomed the President at his hotel.

President Tinubu arrived Abu Dhabi from Europe, where he spent part of his end-of-year break and held high-level engagements with Rwandan President Paul Kagame and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, themed “The Nexus of Next, All Systems Go,” serves as a global platform bringing together world leaders, policymakers, investors and experts to advance discussions and action on sustainable development, climate change, energy transition and inclusive economic growth.

The visit underscores Nigeria’s commitment to global sustainability efforts while further strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates.
