INEC debunks viral report of CVR suspension in Delta
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied a viral report claiming that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Akwukwu Igbo, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State was suspended because of a faulty registration machine.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs. Nseabasi Udom, described the publication as false and misleading.
INEC explained that the registration exercise is ongoing in line with its approved rotation schedule.
According to the commission, the CVR was deployed to Ibusa earlier on Thursday, where the exercise successfully took place.
It further explained that the registration centre at Akwukwu Igbo would resume operations from July 6 to July 10, as part of the structured local government area.
The commission urged residents of Akwukwu Igbo and surrounding communities to disregard the viral message and rely only on official INEC communication channels for accurate updates.
Eligible voters were advised to proceed with their registration and update exercises as scheduled, without fear of cancellation or disruption.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent, credible, and accessible CVR process across the state.
It also assured all eligible residents of equal opportunity to participate in the electoral process
