The singer, who was widely recognised for his political praise songs, particularly in support of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, reportedly passed away on Sunday.

Reacting to the development, Governor Yusuf expressed deep sorrow over the singer’s death, describing it as a huge loss to the entertainment industry and the wider society.

In a condolence message issued through his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor described the late artiste as a patriotic son of Katsina State whose music played a significant role in political communication, cultural promotion and public enlightenment in Kano and beyond.

According to the statement, Kosan Waka was scheduled to be buried at 5 p.m. on Sunday in his hometown of Tsanni village, Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, in accordance with Islamic rites.

Governor Yusuf extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, particularly his mother, as well as his friends, associates, admirers and the people of Kano State.

> “The late Kosan Waka was one of Kano’s most celebrated political singers whose talent, creativity and captivating performances earned him admiration across the country,” the governor said.
