President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Nairobi ahead of the opening of the Africa-France Summit scheduled to commence later on Monday.

The President’s Airbus A330-200 touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at about 12:15 a.m. local time, according to the State House media office.

Tinubu’s visit to Kenya marks his second trip to the East African nation since assuming office in July 2023 and forms the second phase of his ongoing three-nation diplomatic tour.

Before arriving in Nairobi, Tinubu had visited France, where he met with international investors and reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to fiscal discipline, economic reforms, and investment-driven growth.

The summit, jointly hosted by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, will hold from May 11 to May 12 under the theme, “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth.”

Discussions at the gathering are expected to centre on energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and reforms to the global financing architecture.

The Presidency said Tinubu’s participation reflects Nigeria’s commitment to deepening strategic partnerships with African countries and France while positioning the country as a leading destination for investment and economic expansion.

Tinubu is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with African and global business leaders on the sidelines of the summit.

Following the Nairobi engagement, the Nigerian leader is scheduled to travel to Kigali for the annual Africa CEO Forum slated for May 14 to 15.

He is expected back in Nigeria ahead of the APC presidential primary fixed for May 23.
