The Federal Government has signed a renegotiated agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, in a renewed effort to end the frequent strikes that have continued to disrupt academic activities in Nigeria’s public tertiary institutions.
The agreement was formally unveiled at a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, in Abuja.
The development follows prolonged engagements between the government and the university lecturers’ union, as both parties seek lasting solutions to issues that have repeatedly led to shutdowns of public universities across the country.
The meeting was preceded over by Tunji Alausa, minister of education, and Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, minister of state for education.
